David Walliams on “Alan Carr: Chatty Man”

“(…) I’m married now. And it’s to a lady.” Yeah, I still find that so very hard to believe, LOL.

Sorry the video is a bit out of sync. I hate you so much, QuickTimeX. And WHY OH WHY is there no video editor for Mac that has decent editing capabilities for MP4 files, which is supposed to be THE video file format for Mac-based computers? Huh?

Charlotte Gainsbourg – Time of the Assassins

Charlotte Gainsbourg- Time of the Assassins from Charlotte Gainsbourg on Vimeo.

I know this video has been all over the blogs for a couple of days now, but I absolutely adore Charlotte Gainsbourg and the HD version on Vimeo is better than the HD version on YouTube. Enjoy.

Patti Smith Live Last Night

This Is Not a Desaster

I’m pretty pleased that stupid VEVO has decided to make Lady GaGa’s “Telephone” video available to worldwide viewers after all so I can finally post it here. Thanks to ONTD, I was able to watch it on another site right after its international launch, but when that site went down I wasn’t able to watch it again. And that was a shame, because I love this video even more than “Bad Romance”.

What I find puzzling: Why are people up in arms over the product placement in Lady GaGa’s videos NOW? It’s been a part of all of her videos, and while I used to find it annoying because it was so blatant (shots of Russian vodka bottles etc.), I feel like an effort was made this time to integrate the products into the narrative flow of the video. And as Thomas has pointed out, it’s either the product placement or the end of high-budget videos. I guess Jonas Åkerlund isn’t exactly cheap these days. ;)

MEN: "Credit Card Babie$" music video

I was trying very hard not to gasp while watching this video – and not because “Credit Card Babie$” is one of my favourite songs (DJs, add it to your playlist already!). No, it’s because it was filmed with a Digital Harinezumi camera – one of the top items on my rather long “Things I want but can’t afford right now”-wishlist. I have its little analogue brother, the Ikimono, but I can’t shoot video with that one, obviously. I really want one! Santa, are you listening?

Franz Ferdinand – No You Girls

Lucky Thirteen

Yeah, I’m posting this promo after the latest episode of House has aired – which isn’t supposed to be the way that promos work. However, I simply wasn’t aware of its existence before Marion (a silent lurker on this blog :p) told me about it today. Allegedly this scene between Thirteen (played by Olivia Wilde) and quite literally an unnamed female has been cut from the actual episode. I dare say that it was probably never meant for prime time television anyway because even I found the toned-down version that did air a little racy. So here’s the promo. I’m pretty sure that some sort of rating is in order, but I’m never able to figure out how these work. If you’re a kid, just don’t watch it, mmmkay? I’m such a responsible adult, lol.

While I was watching the episode, all I ever could think was “Thirteen’s ‘date’ sorta looks like Katherine Moennig, so they probably picked the actress because the latter wasn’t available.” Then, while doing “research” for this post, I found out that she has in fact appeared in last season’s The L Word as the actress portraying Shane in the movie adaptation of Jenny’s novel Lez Girls. I didn’t think she looked a whole lot like her back then, but seems like she does now. Do you know who else looks like a (younger) Kate Moennig? Kristen Stewart in “Into the Wild”. Just saying.

I certainly won’t be getting my panties in a twist over the implications of Thirteen’s behaviour in this episode. I like Olivia Wilde as an actress, but ask me about Thirteen and I will reply, “She always wears pretty outfits and I feel sorry that she’s got a terminal illness.” And that’s all I could say about her. I blame this lack of empathy on the writers of the show. Not only did they pair off Cameron with Chase (and almost House – I gag just thinking about it), Wilson with Amber (RIP, I never liked ya!), and now they appear to be intent on setting up Foreman (whom I like) with Thirteen. What is this, Grey’s Anatomy where everyone is involved with, well, everyone? So who’s next, Taub and Kuttner?

No actually, there is a pairing I’d like to see. It’s *drumroll* House and Cuddy. I’m not saying it’s got to be love, but these two would be really hot together. And the snarking possibilities in their mutual banter would be endless, considering the way the sparks are flying already. But then, you’ve got to trust the writers to not mess things up – and seeing the way Season 5 has been going so far, I am a little wary.
