Away Again

Alright, I know that I’m seriously lagging behing in posting yet again, but things have been piling up since returning from my vacation, and I’m leaving again tomorrow. Well, “tomorrow” is a bit of an euphemism here because I will have to get up 3.30am, yikes! Why should I get up at this ungodly hour, you may be wondering? Because I have to catch a flight to London in order to see the wonderful Brandi Carlile Band at the Arts Theatre. And I’m really really excited! Some of the people I work with have been teasing me for what they consider a crazy undertaking, but they’ve slowly started to understand. I always maintain that Brandi Carlile is the best singer you might not know yet – so you simply have to get to know her. Here’s Brandi Carlile and her band performing “The Story” at “Later…with Jools Holland” earlier this year:

London

Greetings from London! It still feels like I’m eating my way through the United Kingdom. I can now add Nando’s, LEON and all the bakeries in Chinatown to my favourite eateries. Pictured below is the veggie falafel from LEON – it may not look very enticing, but it’s the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had my share of falafels in life. Apart from the great food, there is so much to see and do that it feels like my head is going to explode. I wish I didn’t have to leave so soon, but as the wise Nelly Furtado once said, “Why do all good things come to an end?”

Manchester

Greetings from Manchester! I went to the Apple Store today in order to take a look at the 3G iPhone for the first time and it`s fabulous (well, the white one is. Black is, as predicted, a total fingerprint nightmare). I took some shots with PhotoBooth and tried uploading them, but unfortunately that didn’t work. I couldn’t upload any of the images to Gmail, either. Does anyone know if Apple Stores employ some sort of script trying to prevent this “spy stuff” from happening?

Other than that, things are ok. I’m so exhausted that it feels like the ground is moving. I ate way too many sandwiches (bad carbs!) and had some great chai tea. I think I’m in love with the food chain EAT. There are so many great shops in Manchester that I don’t even know where to start. But most of all, I’ve got to get some sleep (even though it’s only 9.30pm local time). Bye!

Please add Girltrash! on MySpace

Hi everyone, I’m off to my England vacation now, but please do me a favour and add Girltrash! to your MySpace friends! It’s a web mini series by Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S., The L Word and, errr, Herbie Fully Loaded), and once they reach 5,000 MySpace friends, they’ll be posting the “long edit” which means all ten episodes in one. It may not be a big deal for you, but I’d love to be able to watch this in one piece and currently about 3,800 other peeps think along similar lines.

So please, let Girltrash! be your friend!

Out on July 28

I’d really like an mp3 of that theme song!

DAMN

Now I want it even more, the awkward proportions when actually using it as a phone being so annoying on the original iPhone that I sold it. From user “bryng” over at MacRumors, emphasis mine:

A few quick impressions …

I picked up the white. It is dead sexy. The plastic back is really nice and doesn’t feel cheap or like a step back from the chrome.

The screen is a bit nicer than on my iPod Touch. The contrast is definitely better.

Web access over 3g (in New Zealand) is pretty snappy. GPS works pretty well, but it’s definitely not turn-by-turn.

When plugged into iTunes, it gave me the option to simply use the settings from the iPod Touch for the iPhone, which saved a lot of messing about with tickboxes.

It definitely feels nicer in the hand than the original iPod. The proportions and tapering make it a nice, balanced object to hold.

Best of luck to all peoples who are trying to pick one of these up. It is well worth it.

Mal was ganz Anderes

Last Night

My Secret Garden

was one of the best nights of my life. It was even better than last year’s “My Secret Garden”. They really kept their promise and cleaned up the location – and also added some really cool sculptures. Plus the weather was warm (and dry!), drinks were affordable, Mz Sunday Luv was pretty good, I saw many familiar faces and old friends which somewhat made the party feel like “family”, and the Neon Raiders killed it on the dancefloor. I rarely dance, always feel self-conscious about it, but their stuff was so good that I couldn’t possibly stand still. I think I have also developed a new appreciation for the Ting Tings. I used to find them a little bland, but they were a stand out act at Glastonbury, and I arrived at the party to the sounds of “That’s My Name” blasting and it put me in a great mood right away. Unfortunately I had to leave during “The Beautiful Ones” by Suede, dammit. But what better way to leave the perfect party than to the sounds of your teenage heroes.

Simplify Your Life

I just bought some new webspace and will be moving this domain to a new host sometime within the next couple of weeks. I have never transferred a domain before so I don’t know how messy things are going to get. I’m expecting a little downtime, but on the upside of things, I will finally be able to host everything in one place, that includes all the streaming video and audio, as well as the various galleries I have started and then abandoned.
