Can’t really post right now, I’m all knocked out after this brilliant match (and the USA winning against Norway earlier today! Go Abby!!), but I can’t recall ever having been this happy either. I hope that other Germans will now start paying attention to our fine team!

For Tomorrow

Keeping my fingers crossed
Keeping my fingers crossed for Germany (and the USA at 11am). Oh and my hair is not as short as the picture may suggest.

Oh Fuck You, Swiss Referee with the Silly Terry Cloth Headband!

As expected, emotions are raging pretty high on the USA vs. Brazil match. But poor Shannon Boxx got TWO yellow cards, neither of which she DESERVED. Even the German commentator, who appears to be blatantly on Brazil’s side, agreed. We’re now into half time, and I’m thinking about just switching the telly off. In fact, the very reason why I can stay home and watch this at 2pm CET is the fact that I’m on sick leave (severe bronchitis when you have asthma is not something I’d recommend to anyone), but this match is too agitating to watch. Another player I feel sorry for is Leslie Osborne, obviously. Scoring an own goal is terrible enough, but when so much is at stake, it’s something that takes a lot of strength to overcome.

Strength sadly will be a key factor for the USA in the second half of the match, since they are now down to just ten players. Will they be able to keep up? I certainly do hope so. Talking about hope: I do blame Greg Ryan, the US coach, for replacing Hope Solo, who in my humble opinion has been playing a fine tournament, with Briana Scurry for this match. Don’t get me wrong, Scurry is an exceptional and incredibly experienced goalie, but Solo did a good job so far, so there was no need to change a running system.

The second half has just begun. I’m still not sure whether I will be able to watch this. I think I’ll turn the sound off and lend mental support to the US girls by having a piece of American carrot cake!

stupid bitch

[english]Wu Hu![/english][german]Finale, Woooohoooo![/german]

[english]Germany made it to the final of the Women’s Football (Soccer) World Cup in China!! I’m so happy, now all I want is for the USA to defeat the Brazilian team tomorrow and also make it through. In fact, I do feel like tomorrow’s match is somewhat of a petite finale already. The USA is arguably one of the best teams, and definitely one of the hardest working ones. However, I do feel like they have not reached the pinnacle of their performance yet (maybe they were saving it), Brazil on the other hand has been incredibly strong throughout the tournament. I’m still not rooting for Brazil though, never going to happen when it comes to football. Plus, the USA has all the cool players on their team – and the prettiest jersey to boot.

Mein Traumfinale wäre also Deutschland gegen die USA.
