[english]Sorry for yet another break from blogging, but I’ve been all sorts of busy lately. I did have a moment of the ethereal kind though when I found this post via the indispensible Stereogum:

Linda Thompson (Teddy’s mom) singing a song WITH Antony BY Rufus Wainwright. I mean… just… WOW. This is true beauty.

I got to find the one who wants to get with me

Today is both Ascension and Father’s Day. Which must rock if you’re a religious person and a dad. I’m neither, but I get a day off. Wahey!

I spent some time flicking through old vinyl records and CD singles. I was looking for one song in particular, which oddly “struck” me in my car last night. It was one of my favourites in 2001, when it was released, but I’m pretty sure that I haven’t listened to it in five years, so I really don’t know what brought about the flashback. Luckily I found it today, and it’s every bit as intense as it was back then. The band appears to have split up (there isn’t even an entry at Wikipedia), which is a bit of a shame. But then again, it’s probably better to disappear after one great song, rather than languish forever, waiting for the big break to happen. Does anyone know what the former members of These Animal Men and lead singer K are up to these days?

Eurovision Song Contest

I am a huge fan of the Eurovision Song Contest – have been watching it ever since I was little. And since I’m almost 6 ft. tall, that was a very long time ago ;)

Most of the performances tonight were a little disappointing. Ethno pop with lame dance routines just doesn’t cut it for me, sorry. But fortunately, there’s the saviours of The Ark, whom I have been loving for a long time, and they were fab: Glamour, glitter, mascara, highlights, spinning wheels and naked chests – what more could a girl ask for?!

The Serbian performance, as visually unappealing as it may have been in contrast to The Ark’s, was really moving. I wish I had a clue what she was singing about, but it was very beautiful nevertheless.

Russia reminded me of the Sohodolls, a great band from Britain that I saw a while ago, so they make it into my top 5 as well.

Turkey always gets my vote, even though I hated the singer’s outfit – and the same goes for the guy in drag performing for the Ukraine. The song was very Eurovision-esque though, and so my final five ESC acts this years are:

1. Sweden
2. Serbia
3. Russia
4. Turkey
5. Ukraine

Stöckchen

[english]Thommy from not yet found passed a virtual stick on to me. You’re supposed to pick it up by replying to it, and then pass it on to two other people. The original questions were in German, therefore I replied to them in German. You can read that post by clicking on the German flag icon to the right. Since I don’t know any other German bloggers (yet), I will throw the stick to two other people, first of all Al, whom I haven’t heard from in a while (which is my fault because I keep getting swamped with stuff), and Buzzy

The questions:

4 jobs you wish you could have done

10 films that you can watch over and over again

1 city you would like to live in

4 places you’ve vacationed at

4 of your favourite TV shows

3 places you’d rather be right now

3 books that you could or have read more than once

14 CDs you never grow tired of
