I know why I quit buying your products years ago – because they’re crap. When I bought my PowerBook, I wasn’t aware that Apple uses your batteries. I found out now – and I think it’s awesome! Why? See, I recently had my two-year-anniversary with my 12″ PowerBook. While this surpasses any real life-relationship I’ve ever had, it also marks the longest time I’ve ever kept a computer at home. Even though we’ve had our ups and downs, I still love this little computer to bits, and only recently started noticing a lack in, uhhh, stamina.
While the battery initially lasted a very satisfying 3.5 hours, it now only manages about 2.5 – the last thirty minutes of which run out faster than the counter would indicate, and a couple of times I was surprised by a sudden blackout even when the status bar told me there were several minutes remaining. Let’s just say the battery doesn’t quite cut it anymore, folks.
So why am I happy about this? Well, because it turns out that these batteries you made might pose a safety risk. Not only did Dell, who also use your batteries, have to call back a significant number of batteries. Now Apple (whose more passionate users like to see Dell as their arch-nemesis) have to do the same thing. 1.8 million batteries worldwide – only because you couldn’t be bothered to conduct some proper quality control. Wow! I could rant about this, because it’s just poor. Needless to say, my trust in your products has been shattered even more. But at the same time, I’d like to say a big “Thanks!” for getting me a new battery, free of charge. Just when I needed it!

Youtube coughed up a trailer for the new Killers-vid, “When You Were Young”. Since when have music videos become so important that they need trailers? And with a trailer that lasts 90 seconds, isn’t the ratio to a 240 second-song a little off? Or did I just misunderstand Brandon Flowers and it’s not their new album that’s going to be the best thing in 20 years, but the video?
In all fairness, the trailer does look promising though. Slightly reminiscent of “Batalla en el cielo” towards the end there, but then again I keep seeing scenes of that movie in life quite frequently these days, which is even more disturbing than watching the film itself.
I can’t wait for “Sam’s Town”, the new album by The Killers. I just wish Brandon Flowers wouldn’t be so boastful about it. Nothing screams “lowered expectations” to me like that horrible mustache he’s sporting these days.
Update: The full video surfaced on Youtube, only to be taken down by the RIAA again. I don’t know what the fuss with Youtube is about. The video and audio quality is so bad there – does it stop anyone from buying stuff? I don’t think so!
I know that I keep slagging off the German national football team. This just applies to the men’s team, though! I’m an avid and fierce supporter of the women’s team. They may not be getting the recognition and respect they deserve from the public – yet. But they are a brilliant team and fully illustrate the beauty of the game in a domain that hasn’t been destroyed by corporate sponsorship yet. Gee, that sounds bitter!
When my friend told me she got tickets for the international match against Italy, it was – as corny as this may sound – a dream come true for me. And despite my gripe with the men’s squad, I too felt like Italy needed a bit of vengeance for both kicking out Germany and eventually and unjustifiably IMHO winning the recent World Cup. And my revenge I got!
I know I said that I wouldn’t be getting all worked up about Season 4 of The L Word – but that was before I saw this picture. Shane modelling for Hugo Boss underwear? Now that’s genius. Having said that, I’m still pretty sure that Season 4 is going to be total pants. After three seasons that were only half-decent (i.e. first half: yay! Second half: boooo!), I’m starting to see a pattern here. I’m talking to you, Ilene Chaiken!
